Fuel quality management for standby generators.
Diesel sitting in a tank degrades long before the day you need it. We inspect, test and recondition stored fuel in place — so your generators start when everything else stops.
- Zero
- downtime — fuel never leaves the tank
- ASTM D975
- & ISO 4406 cleanliness standards
- 3–6 mo
- recommended inspection cycle
“Having a solid fuel management plan in place can make the difference during a disaster.”
01 — The risk
What building & facility managers need to know
Conventional diesel storage tanks are not sealed environments. Heat, stagnancy and moisture work continuously against the fuel your business continuity plan depends on.
The onus sits with you. Generator manufacturers demand clean fuel per ASTM D975 and ISO 4406 — responsibility for meeting that falls on the building owner or facility manager.
-
A
Performance impact
Poor fuel quality directly undermines your business continuity plan, operational reliability and generator performance.
-
B
Technical risks
Water contamination, microbial growth and fuel degradation clog filters and can cause engine failure — a heavy OPEX hit in repair costs.
-
C
Compliance
A structured approach with frequent reviews of your emergency fuel policies keeps them aligned with real operational needs.
-
D
The solution
Regular monitoring and scheduled maintenance — sampling, testing and polishing — keeps fuel in top condition without taking the tank offline.
Figure 2 · Natural deterioration
Deterioration of fuel after a prolonged stagnancy period
Fresh diesel
Bright, clear, straw-coloured fuel meeting ASTM D975 on water, sediment and particulates.
Early degradation
Colour deepens as oxidation begins. Water content rises from tank-wall condensation.
Contaminated
Visible haze and suspended solids. Microbial growth and sludge start clogging filters.
Failed fuel
Dark, opaque and heavily degraded — a direct engine-failure risk when the generator is called on.
02 — Our solution
Diesel Fuel Reconditioning Services
Fuel is drawn from the lowest point of the tank, filtered, polished and stabilised, then returned — while tank cleaning runs concurrently. The generator stays available throughout.
-
01
Collection
Stored diesel is suctioned from the bottom of the tank, where most contaminants deposit.
-
02
Filtration
Macro-sized contaminants — water, organic waste, sludge — are filtered out first.
-
03
Polishing
Filtered diesel is polished to eliminate micron-sized particles and stabilised while tank cleaning runs.
-
04
Efficiency
Fuel never leaves the storage tank, ensuring zero downtime for generators during the process.
03 — Operational framework
Our procedure
Every engagement starts with evidence. Sampling and testing decide the route — routine monitoring or full reconditioning.
Proposed maintenance schedule
| Service | Frequency | Key criteria |
|---|---|---|
| Fuel quality inspection, testing and sampling | 3–6 months | Water level, microbial growth, degradation and sludge |
| Fuel polishing and tank cleaning | 6–12 months | Water level, microbial growth, degradation and sludge |
04 — Accountability
Every job closes with a certificate of analysis
Results are documented against ASTM D975 — water and sediment, density, particulate counts, microbial contamination, flash point and visual appearance — so you have an auditable record for your compliance file, not a verbal assurance.
